H Theodore Cohen is Of Counsel to Keegan Werlin LLP. Mr. Cohen specializes in municipal law, real estate law and land use regulation. Mr. Cohen served as Town Counsel to the Town of Reading, Massachusetts from 1972 to 2001 and has provided Town Counsel or City Solicitor services to the Towns of Brookline, Carver and Duxbury and to the City of Newburyport, and Special Town Counsel services to the Towns of Amherst, Easton and Norwell and to the Planning Board of the Town of Falmouth. Mr. Cohen also has provided General Counsel services to the Martha's Vineyard Commission and to the Massachusetts Municipal Association. Mr. Cohen represents public and private clients in a variety of real estate transactions including purchases, sales, leases, financing and construction of residential and commercial properties.
Before joining the firm in 1997, Mr. Cohen was an associate and partner at Tyler & Reynolds Professional Corporation for over twenty years and Of Counsel to MacGregor & Shea P.C. Prior to receiving his Juris Doctor from the University of Chicago Law School, Mr. Cohen received his Bachelor of Arts degree from Brown University.
Mr. Cohen is admitted to practice before the bars of Massachusetts, the United States District Court for the District of Massachusetts, the First Circuit Court of Appeals, and the U.S. Supreme Court. He is a member of the International Municipal Lawyers Association, the Massachusetts City Solicitors and Town Counsel Association, the Property Law Section of the Massachusetts Bar Association, the American Arbitration Association and is a Fellow of the Massachusetts Bar Foundation.
